The facts

Legion of Valor plates are issued to members of the Legion of Valor of the USA, Inc. Legion of Valor Members are recipients of the following medals… • Medal of Honor • Distinguished Service Cross • Navy Cross • Air Force Cross Along with an Application for Awarded Medal Veterans’ Plates, one of the following documents indicating award is needed. • A DD-214 that indicates “Honor able” in the Character of Service box (which will not always be located in the same place on the form). Note that only the long form (full page) DD-214 is acceptable; the short form (halfpage) cannot be accepted. • A DD-215 (which is an amended version of the DD-214) that indicates an honor able discharge. • An Honor able Discharge form (this was used during WWII and the Korean War). Regardless of what document is presented, it must state Honor ably Discharged and awarded medal. Legion of Valor members are eligible for one set of plates.

Use the listed prefix and manual examples as evidence. The broad specialty fallback is not proof that every suffix arrangement is issued.

Prefix history

A series can change its printed prefix over the years. Only the current one is issued on new requests.

In a pattern, L is one letter and N is one digit. The printed prefix LV is fixed — the pattern above is only the part you pick. Format rules describe what plate numbers in this series look like — they are not a claim that any particular plate number is unregistered or available.
